I’m thankful for so many of these amazing memories performing at @AtlantisBahamas Although it looks pretty and fun, honestly this is one of the hardest things to do, ever, and one of the most difficult yet magical jobs I’ve ever had. To act underwater, entertain crowds, while I hold my breath, not seeing them but them seeing me very clearly, eyes open and sinuses flooded in salt water, in a heavy mermaid tail, all while making it seem effortless. It is all thanks to all the freediving training and diving experiences I’ve had and even acting experience, that I feel so comfortable down there. It feels so wild to be here at Disney for Moana 2!🥹 For those who don’t know, I used to perform as Moana for children’s entertainment when the first movie came out, just before my mermaid journey began. Playing her was so special because she’s such a brave, inspiring character with a deep connection to the ocean. As an island girl myself, with a strong bond to nature and my indigenous ancestors, I always related to her story as well. I studied her, learned her songs, and performed them at events (even adding a touch of fire here and there since I was already trained). Out of all the characters I portrayed back then, Moana was my favorite! Being here feels like a full-circle moment, bringing back memories of performing for so many kids and making their dreams come true, even before I created Mermaid Elle! Anyway, enough about me! Moana 2 was absolutely incredible and the new storyline made me fall even more in love with the characters and their journey. Go watch it! 🍿Out in theaters today, November 27!
