WARNING: don’t read if you’re not ready for some raw, honest, tough love (that will make you MUCH happier in the end) 1. The person you talk to the most is yourself. If you learn how to speak kinder to yourself, life will magically get better — I promise. 2. Your fear of disappointing people (aka people pleasing) is hurting you more than you realize. Learn how to be honest and direct with people—they appreciate it. 3. There is healthy conflict and unhealthy conflict. You probably saw a lot of unhealthy conflict growing up. That’s ok. Make today the day you start to learn about healthy conflict. 4. “Talk like a man” is the worst communication advice for women. Talk like yourself. Be articulate, direct, and concise. 5. Humor is a super weapon that’s grossly underutilized. It’s usually not that serious. Everything’s made up. 6. Half of your “buts” should be “ands”. Ex: you like working here AND (not but) you need a raise. Small difference, huge impact. 7. They might be micromanaging you because they’re a bad boss… but they might be micromanaging you because you’re a bad employee. Either way, have a conversation about it—today. 8. Your unregulated nervous system is why you get flustered at work. Work on regulation and a million other issues will dissolve. 9. You’re always seeking other’s opinions because you don’t trust yourself. 10. Being loud doesn’t mean you’re right and being super serious doesn’t mean you’re smart 11. When in doubt, err on the side of overcommunication. If you can ask Google, don’t ask someone else. 12. Apologize. Then, ONLY if it can alleviate the hurt, add context. Dont make excuses.
😭 have you ever had a coworker like this…?! I know I know, 👏🏼 clapping back 👏🏼 would make for a much sexier viral video! But I’m here to give you realistic advice that will help YOU in real life 🫡 📺 You know how when you’re watching reality tv (cough the bachelor cough) and the person who takes the high road always looks better in the end? 🤝🏼 People see more than we give them credit for. 🛣️ If you take the high road, view is way better. Advocate for yourself when necessary 👇 Example: “I noticed this meeting started 5 minutes early, and I had a meeting before this. Please don’t let me hold you up!” But keep things moving along. You are not the one who should be ashamed. Trying to make someone else look bad bc you’re jelly is so cringe lol. The truth allllllways comes out 👀 You got this 👏🏼 #careeradvice #communication #bully #MentalHealth

What's the RIGHT way to talk to a coworker who just returned to work after a death? Spoiler alert: there is no right way—but there is a wrong way. The wrong way is ignoring it, changing the topic, getting awkward, or attempting to soothe them by saying things like, "everything happens for a reason" or, the worst, "they're in a better place now." The trick? Just tell them you're sorry. Ask what you can do to ease their transition back into work. Let them know you're there. Be gracious with them. Grief affects different people differently. Be gentle, brief, and empathetic. you got this!! #careeradvice #work #communication #funeral #death #grief #awkward #skit
Paid time off is part 👏 of 👏 your 👏 compensation 👏 just like your salary, 401k match, healthcare benefits, etc. 👉 If this is you, try having a frank conversation with your manager. If they continue to be difficult or unreasonable, I would highly recommend looking for a new job/manager (or escalating, if appropriate)! You got this! 👏 #pto #jobbenefits #careeradvice #careerhelp

@advicewitherin 🛑 STOP — You do NOT have to answer this question — or make dodging it awkward! In 22 states + 23 local municipalities, this question is outlawed. Just because you’re underpaid now doesn’t mean you should be underpaid at your next job, you know? Just say, “I’m not at liberty to disclose that, and I’d love to know the salary range for this position.” 🫰🏼 [Comment or DM me “SALARY101” ON INSTAGRAM to download my Free Salary Negotiation Guide!] And if you’re like “well I’ll just lie and say like $100k!!” — sure, whatever, I’m just here to tell you that recruiters see people lie all day long and you’re not as good of a liar as you think you are lol But you know I’m here to teach you how to advocate for yourself without making things weird, so here is a template for getting around this question in an impressive way! 😎 & if you already let it slip in a previous interview — don’t sweat it! Just send them an email (important its in writing) and say something like: “I know that in our discussion you asked about my current salary and I provided a number. I want to confirm my previous salary will not influence any discussions around future compensation as this role requires unique skills and expertise. I really enjoyed meeting you and am very excited about the opportunity to join this company. Thank you again!” 🫳🎤 You got this 👏 #jobinterview #salary #money #negotiation #careeradvice
What is the 3-2-1 Method you ask!? It’s one thing I do every morning to help structure my day and it’s stupid simple: Just pick: 💼 3 work priorities 🥦 2 health priorities 🤸♂️ 1 fun priority Every day! For example: WORK: 1. 1:1 with manager 2. Prepare client B deck 3. Hire junior designer HEALTH: 1. Eat 40g of protein 2. Meditate for 10 mins FUN: 1. Facetime BFF I made up this little method and it seems too simple to be effective—but try it for one week and see what happens 😉 You got this! 👏 #burnout #MentalHealth #job #work #corporate #health
