Something I learned in dental school that surprised me was that certain teas contain fluoride! Black tea, oolong, and matcha being on the higher end. 🍵 An 8 oz serving of matcha contains 0.1 to 1.2 mg of fluoride. (8 oz of fluoridated water contains 0.17mg) The concentration of fluoride varies depending on the tea’s quality and source. Higher grade matcha usually has a lower fluoride concentration. Nobody talks about how difficult it is to break concentration constantly throughout the day. I learned this was one of the things that made me hate my job. It’s hard to do good work when there’s constant distractions. Somewhere in my path I restructured my practice to cater to me as a doctor and I’ve never been happier.
