Don't confuse driving with NO insurance and driving without PROOF of insurance. Both will get you a ticket, but driving with NO insurance hits hard. It can be lowered in court, but that's certainly not a given. Too many have found out the hard way. Window tint laws: If you choose to ignore the law altogether, an officer can order you to an inspection facility where you will be forced to remove the tint from the vehicle. Police must be able to identify the driver. Even if you purchased the vehicle somewhere else, you would have to get the tint removed. The onus is on the owner. Moving, directional radar is a thing. It can also be set to let them know if someone is excessively speeding based on the tone, so the officer doesn't have to be watching while on patrol. The classic 'public safety' vs 'revenue generation' conversation continues. There are no set allowances in terms of speeding, the limit is the limit. We all know that the law as stated is not always common practice. I don't know any police officer who has actually pulled someone over for 1 or 2 over the limit, however police will not publicly state allowances, nor should they. There's all kinds of rumours and myths out there. Also, should all speeding be treated the same? Top 3 tickets - Country wide! These are the same top three tickets issued by @Officer Papadopoulos in 2024. It's the same no matter where you are. Keep in mind, these are Provincial offences and fines differ depending on where you are. Ontario has Stunt Driving, BC has Excessive Speeding. Certainly seems to be more expensive in Ontario, however both will affect your insurance rates. It's not worth it! Yes, you can legally drive with bare feet! I'd even say it's safer than driving with some sandals or flip flops which are designed to slide off easy and get caught up. Another myth: Police can't give tickets outside their jurisdiction. They absolutely can and do! Same with highway patrol, they can give tickets in the city and vice versa. I've done it, and I know officers who have done the same. On a side note, I also arrested a person for robbery while off-duty in a whole other municipality.
