While you may have heard them called Tasmanian tigers or Tasmanian wolves, Thylacines were more closely related to kangaroos. They carried their young in a unique backward-facing pouch and could hop around on their back two feet! They were remarkable, and lived alone or in small groups in Australia and New Guinea for nearly four million years. Humans encroached on their habitat, and the animals were quickly reduced till the final member of their species shown here, Benjamin, remained. #Thylacine #TasmanianTiger #Australia #MuseumMonday #MammalMonday #Mammals
#ad Why have just a smoothie, when you could have a smoothie AND fossil facts!! 🫐 🦕 I’ve loved taking this portable blender/juicer with me out camping this summer and couldn’t resist talking about how amazing it is that berries appear in the fossil record toward the end of the Cretaceous. Try it out and let me know what you think! #fossils #smoothierecipe #portableblender #camping
Replying to @megocmoss #greenscreen I LOVE THIS QUESTION SO MUCH!! Because the answer is yes AND sometimes also yes lol. #dinosaur #paleontology #meatier #fossil
Okay it’s actually WAY MORE than just playing with fossils, but that’s certainly one of my favorite parts! #LoveIsland #loveislandusa #huda #museum #fossils #dinosaurs #paleontology #fossil #jurassicworld #jurassicpark #paleontologist #dinosaur
Let’s hear it for FERNS!!! When my natural history shelves needed a refresh (and some greenery) there was only one option to go with! My favorite houseplant with tons of variation, true ferns are a natural history wonder that are super low maintenance. #PlantTok #TikTokLearningCampaign #Ferns #Botany #Paleontology
